Quality of life, treatment satisfaction, and treatment preference associated with use of a pen device delivering a premixed 70/30 insulin aspart suspension (aspart protamine suspension/soluble aspart) versus alternative treatment strategies.

چکیده
Interest in intensified insulin therapy has contributed to the increased popularity of alternative insulin delivery systems, including insulin pen delivery devices. Although there have been several studies of patient-reported outcomes associated with insulin pen use (1–6), there has been no adequate assessment of 1) the most advanced devices, pens delivering premixed intermediate-acting and rapidacting analog insulin; 2) the effects of pens for patients previously naı̈ve to insulin; 3) the effects of pens on general quality of life; and 4) what factors contribute to preference for different insulin delivery systems.

Insulin analogs: impact on treatment success, satisfaction, quality of life, and adherence.
A growing body of medical research has demonstrated that intensive control of serum glucose levels can minimize the development of diabetes-related complications. Success with insulin management ultimately depends on how closely a given regimen can mimic normal physiologic insulin release patterns. The new insulin analogs, including the rapid-acting analogs (aspart, lispro, glulisine), the long...

OBJECTIVE To explore the safety and effectiveness of treatment with the insulin analogue, biphasic insulin aspart 30 (BIAsp 30), in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a subgroup of a Pakistani population from the A1chieve study. METHODS A1chieve was a 24-week, international, prospective, multicentre, open label, observational, non-interventional study designed to evaluate the safe...
متن کاملCost-Effectiveness of Switching to Biphasic Insulin Aspart 30 from Human Insulin in Patients with Poorly ControlledType 2 Diabetes in South Koreavhe_628
Objectives: To estimate the cost-effectiveness of switching patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus from human insulin (HI) to biphasic insulin aspart 30 (BIAsp 30) in South Korea. Methods: A published and validated diabetes computer simulation model (the IMS CORE Diabetes Model) was used to evaluate the long-term clinical and economic outcomes associated with switching to BIAs...
متن کاملInsulin degludec/insulin aspart vs biphasic insulin aspart 30 twice daily in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes: A randomized controlled trial
AIMS/INTRODUCTION Insulin degludec/insulin aspart (IDegAsp) is a soluble combination of insulin degludec (70%) and insulin aspart (30%). The present exploratory trial investigated the safety of switching unit-to-unit from twice-daily basal or pre-mix insulin to twice-daily IDegAsp in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this 6-week, open-label, parallel-group, cont...
متن کاملEfficacy and Safety of Biphasic Insulin Aspart 30/70 in Type 2 Diabetes Suboptimally Controlled on Oral Antidiabetic Therapy in Korea: A Multicenter, Open-Label, Single-Arm Study
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate change in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), side effects, and quality of life (QOL) after a 16-week treatment period with Biphasic insulin aspart 30/70 (BIasp30) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who had been suboptimally controlled with oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs). METHODS The study consisted of a 4-week titration period w...
